Watson Singleton Jr. was born in Bronwood, Georgia to Watson Singleton Sr. and Essie Mae Singleton Gallimore on November 17, 1939. He departed this life on May 27, 2024, after a brief illness.
Watson’s family moved to Akron, Ohio in 1945 when he was six years old. He attended Bryant Elementary School and excelled to the point of skipping a grade. Watson attended and graduated from Buchtel High School in 1957. He was an avid crossword puzzler, solving many challenging puzzles as well as those in the Akron Beacon Journal. In recent years he was working towards strengthening his spirituality. Watson worked at Chrysler Motors for 30 years, he retired in 1994.
Watson was married to his loving wife Eileen Singleton for 40 years. Prior to that he had been married to Juanita Courtney, with whom he had 4 children, Kevin, Renee, Rochelle and Keith.
He will be greatly missed for his humor and his love of family and friends. left to cherish his memories is his wife, Eileen Singleton; his five children, Kevin Singleton, Renee (Kevin) Thomas, Rochelle Rowland, Keith Singleton, Jermaine Clepper; his sister, Betty Chapman of Fredericksburg, VA; 14 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren; In-Laws, Johnny (Dreama) Clepper, Brenda Robinson, Virginia Clepper, Alice (Trey) Rice, Sandra Clepper and his Longtime friends, James Hall (Ho-Cake), James Smith (Smitty), and James Moore “J-Mo”. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his many, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will truly be missed.
