James Christian
April 30, 1947 – June 25, 2025

James Christian, 78, of Akron, Ohio, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2025. He was born on April 30, 1947, to the late Allen and Allena Christian, and remained a lifelong resident of Akron, except for 15 years spent living in Las Vegas, Nevada.

James was educated in the Akron Public School System and graduated from Central High School. He went on to work in the field of security, where he was known for his reliability and professionalism. A man of strong faith, James attended several churches throughout his life in his pursuit of a permanent spiritual home. His spiritual journey reflected his deep devotion and personal commitment to his beliefs.

Athletic, outgoing, and social, James enjoyed staying active and was known for his lively personality. For many year he proudly owned and operated James Bar, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cecelia Christian.

He was one of seven siblings and leaves behind: Allen (Sharon) Christian, Victoria (Johnnie) Griffin, Jack (Germaine) Christian, Rosetta (Robert) Christian, and Barbara Christian-Clayton.

James also leaves to mourn his passing his beloved son, James L. Christian, and six cherished grandchildren: Dominic Butcher, Zaria Temuru, James Christian, Malachi Christian, Audrey Christian, and Gracelyn Christian.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sommerville Funeral Service, 1695 Diagonal Road, Akron, OH 44320.

James Christian will be remembered for his kindness, energy, spiritual depth, and the lasting impression he left on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
