Joy Erica Isler, age 53, transitioned from this earthly life to live eternal on July 21, 2021.

Joy was born May 16, 1968, in Steubenville, Ohio.  She graduated from Steubenville High School in 1986 and furthered her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Joy went on to attend The University of Akron where she completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for over 21 years. Due to her academic accomplishments, Joy received scholarships from Delta Sigma Theta Inc., The University of Akron, and the Ed Gibney Psychiatric Scholarship. Nursing was her passion.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Mamie Isler; parents, Colleen Isler and Joseph “Jo Jo” Pierce; and loving sister, Monica Isler.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children; Jeffrey, Amber, LaTia, Dejah, Tyrae, and Neveah. Eight grandchildren; Javion, Jeffrey Jr., Derion, Deamanie, Aliyah, LeAndre Jr., LaNiyah, and Gianna; sisters, Dana (Michael) Robinson and Joella Pierce-Reef; brothers, Timothy Pierce,  Rodney Pierce, and a host of family and friends.

Homegoing services will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 12:00 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Road, Akron, OH 44320.  Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Interment Glendale Cemetery.
