Nancy Ree Edwards was born December 16, 1942, in Northport, Alabama to the late Milton Pete and Elnora Wilson. As a child, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and united in Christian fellowship with Pole Bridge Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Riverside High School. After relocating to Akron, Ohio with her sister, Nora, in 1961, she became a proud and faithful member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses’ Guild.
Nancy and J.B. Edwards were united in Holy Matrimony on July 12, 1964. She was employed at Garver’s Restaurant until she gave birth to her sons, Jonathan (Tiffany) and Jason (Rosheadra), after nearly nine years of marriage. Nancy would later become a licensed cosmetologist, graduating from Washington Beauty Academy.
She completed her earthly journey on Friday, August 21, 2021, at her home with her beloved J.B. after a courageous, six-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Elnora and Milton Wilson, Sr.; brothers, Clauzell and Chester; and sisters, Nora (Clester) Carter and Carolyn (McKenzie) Young. Cherishing fond memories of Nancy are her husband of 57 years, J.B.; sons, Jonathan (Tiffany) and Jason (Rosheadra); sisters, Janice (Richard) Hinton of Los Angeles, CA and Johnnie Mae (Leroy) May of Northport, AL; brother, Milton (Belinda) Wilson, Jr. of Northport, AL; granddaughters, Imani and Jesselle; grandsons, Nathan, Jaxson, and Graham; special nieces Natalie Roberts and Cleta Carter; special nephew Dwayne Carter; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, church family, and friends.
