Robert was born December 22, 1931 in Akron the only child of Anderson and Rachel Brown. He lost his mother at an early age and grew up with his loving grandparents, Nettie and William Brown. He graduated from Akron Public Schools and joined the United States Army where he excelled as a Specialist and served for three years . Robert married Rosemary Lyons and together they had two children, Gloria “Shuggie” and Kimberly Brown. He later found the love of his life, Virginia Jones. During his career, Robert worked at General Tire for 14 years, he also worked in the construction industry, as a long-distance truck driver and retired from Ohio Valley National Parks. After retirement Robert kept busy landscaping, collecting cars, gambling and his extensive coin collection.
He is preceded in death by his parents Anderson and Rachel Brown; grandparents Nettie and William Brown; son Robert “Ricky” Averiette and great-granddaughter Reagan Christian.
He leaves to mourn his memory his devoted partner, Virginia Jones; children Gloria Johnson of Atlanta, Ga. and Kimberly Brown of Akron; grandchildren, Lisa Averiette of Akron , Meia Christian, Akron, Ohio, Durrell Brown and Tiffany Short of Atlanta, Ga, special daughters Pamela Jeter and Jo Ann Jones; great-grandchildren, Darion and Daija White of Atlanta, Ga and Zion Smith of Akron, and host of other family and friends.
