Willie Belle (Denson) Wilmington, known affectionately as Will, was born on December 21, 1942, in Natchez, AL. As a young child, she relocated to Akron, Ohio, with her siblings and parents, John and Jessie B. Denson, and resided in the area until she went to her heavenly home on August 20, 2023.
Will Wilmington was a graduate of Akron’s South High School, class of 1960. She enjoyed a 36-year retail career as a welcoming, familiar face at Macy’s Summit Mall until her retirement in 2008. She was a part of Ed Davis Community Center’s Senior Group, where she enjoyed exercise, bus trips, and community meetings with friends.
A devout Christian who loved the Lord, her family, her church, and her community, Will was a proud, steadfast, and committed Mount Zion Baptist Church member for 56 years. She served faithfully on the Nurses Guild and was a serious student of the Bible who regularly attended Sunday School.
Will Wilmington was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie B. Denson, and two older siblings, Edward Denson and Ola Mae Gills. She is survived by her daughter, Lori R. Muhammad, six grandchildren, three brothers, John E. (Joan) Denson, Moses (Beverly) Denson, George A. Denson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
