Mrs. Alberta Whitlock-Jennings “Birdie”, at the blessed age of 68, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 19, 2019 with her loved one’s by her side.

Birdie, affectionately described by her children as a provider, loving, caring and supportive was born March 2, 1951. She was a lifelong resident of Akron, OH. She attended South High School and was employed in various capacities throughout her life using her gifts of caregiving and cooking. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Freewill Methodist Church which later became Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist church. In the past she served the church by helping on the kitchen committee, but her passion was using her voice in the choir to lift God’s praises. Singing songs such as Victory Shall Be Mine and Prayer Will Fix It for You, she touched many souls throughout the years. Birdie enjoyed shopping, being flashy and cooking. She loved her grandchildren and was known for having witty commentary.

Birdie is preceded in death by her husband Gregory Jennings and parents Johnnie & Alberta Marshall and grandson DeAndre Whitlock.

Left to cherish her memories are her son Johnnie DeWayne (Amanda) Marshall; daughters Kimberly Whitlock, Janiki Whitlock & Winona Whitlock; grandchildren – DaVon Coman, Brian Coman Jr., Ryan Coman, Dierre Whitlock, My’Aire Whitlock, J’Aire Whitlock, Jy’Aire Whitlock, Makiya Whitlock; great-grandchildren – Ja’Nelle Tompkins, Zierre Whitlock, Zuri Whitlock , Jordan Coman, Armon Whitlock as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
